We are recruiting a  Responsible Individual (RI)  for our Care and Support business in Wales.

The Responsible Individual (RI) provides governance oversight on behalf of the Board and Chief Executive and  is accountable for ensuring that our homes are safe, well-run, and compliant with all relevant legislation and care standards.

The RI works closely with the Registered Managers to provide strategic oversight and support, ensuring that:

  • The service is managed effectively and in line with CIW regulations.
  • Suitable staffing, resources, and systems are in place to meet residents’ needs.
  • Quality assurance and governance processes are robust and evidence-based.
  • The ethos and values of the charity are upheld in day-to-day practice.

The Responsible Individual is required to be a member of the Board of Directors, ensuring appropriate governance accountability and a direct link between the operational management of the home and the company’s governing body.

The RI role is not responsible for daily management but provides ongoing governance and assurance to the Board and CIW, maintaining regular contact with the Registered Managers and visiting the services as required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Demonstrable leadership, management, or governance experience within the health, social care, or charity sector.
  • Strong understanding of governance, compliance, and quality assurance frameworks.
  • Working knowledge of the Regulation and Inspection of Social Care (Wales) Act 2016 and the Service Provider and Responsible Individual (Wales) Regulations 2017 (or willingness to undertake training).
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and organisational skills, with the ability to challenge and support the Registered Manager constructively.
  • Ability to engage confidently with CIW, the Board, and external professionals.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care Services (Adults’ Residential Management – Wales) or equivalent management qualification (e.g., ILM Level 5 or above).
  • Experience as a Registered Manager, Deputy Manager, or Responsible Individual within a regulated adult care service.
  • Experience of working at Board or Trustee level, ideally within a charity or not-for-profit organisation.
  • Familiarity with CIW inspection processes, action planning, and service improvement.
